This system replaces vein stripping and eliminates multiple incisions required to pull the vein out of the leg. It also treats smaller varicose veins than Endovenous Closure does not. Another major difference is that patients undergoing TRIVEX® have very little, if any, pain.

The procedure involves making a two-inch incision in the groin to remove the greater saphenous vein. A catheter is passed down the vein and brought out through a small incision by the knee so the other end of the vein can be removed.

To treat the large, secondary varicose veins, two instruments are inserted through tiny incisions to cut and remove the vein. Depending on the number of veins, the procedure takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Patients go home the same day and are encouraged to walk, but not engage in strenuous activity. Many return to work in 1-2 days.
